Shakshuka

Finally had my first try of this breakfast dish. I have known about it for sometime and have seen it on the menu of many breakfast spots, but to be honest it just never sounded like something I wanted to really eat.

It's eggs that are poached in a thick chunky tomato sauce and served with pita or somesort of bread. It comes from the north Africa coast area, but is done in many different areas along the mediterrean sea. The italians call it "eggs in purgatory" lol.

My friend Jack also a fello chef that now lives in the L.a. area brought us to a bakery/ cafe in Santa Monica Called Tartine. He's like " they got great bread" and I was immedity sold on trying out this spot. Not only did they have fanatsic bread, their coffee game was superp.

It was not spicy the version they prepared or bell pepery. It was an excellent and well seasoned tomato sauce, with some chix peas, herbs, and great bread. I am happy that I finally tried it and will be on the look out for the next restaurant that has this on its menu.

Thanks Jack! I look forward to breaking break with you in the future brother!
