Babychan

My wife and I were recently really impressed by the Chefs, and team at Japanese bakery Babychan which is located in Germantown, Nashville,TN. They have excellent coffees, baked goods, and a small menu of Japanese small bites, that meant to share.

If you have never had sesame coffee, it is the bomb, and something that is commonly sold in Japan. I had my first cup in Harajuku, and I have never stopped thinking about it since then.

The karage is identical to what you could get in Japan! The salmon chirashi bowl was divine! The sushi rice was elegent and perfectly cooked, and seasoned, The cured miso salmon, the egg ribbons, the roe, crunch from the cucumbers, and the seaweed, it was all blended so well, all the flavors worked, and it was almost like magic. The French onion oup was the best surprise. The chefs use a dashi stock to make the soup, and the ocean hints worked very well with the carmalized onions, French bread and the grueyre cheese. The taro cream puff was also wonderful as well, not overly sweet, just the right amount.

They have a bunch of tabels and patio seating out front of the cafe. The whole area was filled up with hipsters hanging with their pups, and sipping and enjoying coffee on a sunday morning. Its a small place if you can get in I highly recommend this place!
