Hexclad Review

Im sure you have seen these pans or something similar to the Hexclad pans at retailers like Costco or Sams Club. I am writing this as an honest review of someone who has owned the Hexclad pot and pan set for 3 years now. I gotta admit first I am a hater on Gordon Ramsey, but I really enjoy cooking with these pans/pots. It has almost all the right things you want in a highend pan.

The Hexclad idea is to blend the benefits of cast iron for its durability and longevity, with the convenience of nonstick, and the performance of stainless steel. I believe it does have at least 2 of the 3 parts totally nailed. Those parts being the nonstick and easy to clean nature of the pan. Its overall cooking applications for many different dishes , and its ability to create an excellent sear/crust on fish, chicken or beef. However with a nice beautiful crust, usually comes a heavy duty cleaning afterwards. Thats not the case with these pans, the debris comes off pretty effortlessly. It's a great nonstick pan, the only area I would say it stuggles in is if you want to use it as your eggs over easy pan. You are still going to need a spatula to flip because your eggs are going to stick. Scrambled eggs are the only thing I would say was almost difficult to clean out of the pan. In terms of the pans durabilty, It has held up for 3 years going onto four. I use these pans for my foodprep/catering bussiness, and I am pretty hard on them. If I can get 5 more years i'd be pretty impressed but time will tell.

In regards of it being a so called healthier pan option, I don't believe it. If a pan has any claim that it is nonstick, just know that they are using some kind of chemical, toxic, forever chemical, something that is not good for your body. That is the trade off for convenience.Recently Hexclad paid a settlement of 2.5 million dollars. The allagations were that they misled customers by advertising as a non toxic, PFSA-free (teflon/forver chemical) pan, however the pans still contained PTFE which is a type of PFSA. They have developed and patened their own ceramic nonstick coating called Terrabond, which is now being used on their pans today and being adverstied as chemical free. For what its worth I believe its probably better built than most.

Hexclad has changed the game in many ways, like i was saying ealier, you can find what I would call knock off-Hexclads.Same pitch, but I am not convinced they are built as well as Hexclad. If you see them and are thinking you might want to buy because they are more afforable. I would say just wait for a deal to happen on the Hexclad website, im sure its still going to be expensive but it will be worth it.
